We drove to Great Gma E's farm on the 4th (from Walker). The girls did well on the long ride - thank goodness for movies in the car! We spent the late afternoon and evening partying it up with the Evensons. Uncle Jim and Lucas (and a few others) started roasting a hog that morning. By dinner time, it was perfect! Very tender and very good meat. Everyone brought a dish to pass and like other years, there was plenty!
We even got to name the pig that was roasted! After reading through many names, Joel won with the name Haagen daz. There were some very creative names on the list!
We played a little water balloons, bean bag toss, volleyball, and even tried to see how fast we could throw a baseball with the new toy that read how fast we threw! The highlight of the day, though, was the apple stacking contest! I have never tried to stack 4 apples in a row - not an easy feat. It was fun trying, and a few of us even made it up to 5! Paige was the overall champion! :) We had a bonfire and then the mosquitoes set in! They were horrible! The guys did the fireworks display (Gpa P took the girls to the van because either a.) they were tired b.) it was too loud c.) they were getting eaten alive by mosquitoes or d.) all of the above! It was a great way to end the 4th!
